When my baby girl was born,
She was born asleep
She did not take a single breathe
She did not even weep

She did not kick, she did not cry,
She did not make a sound
For when my baby girl was born
There was silence all around

"How could this happen to me?"
I thought over in my head,
"Her life ended before it started"
I cried as I lay in my bed.

"God, please don't take my baby girl,
Please take me instead,
I have had a life well lived,
And she hasn't even lived yet."

My baby girl will never breathe
Or see the light of day
She will never learn to walk and talk
She will never run and play

She will never get to go to school
And learn all she needs to know
She will never get to play with friends,
And I will never see her grow.

My Precious Granddaughter - by Unknown Author

I have a little Granddaughter,
Who means the world to me
She's living with the Angels
And is as special as can be

And even though she's up there,
Playing in the clouds
She's still my precious Granddaughter
And I am so very proud.

I know I can not hold her,
Or bounce her on my knee
But only have to close my eyes,
Her little face to see.

I never will stop missing her
And wishing she were here
But sometimes I feel, indeed I know
That she is very near.
